Your guide to buying and selling on Ebay

Archive for February, 2008

With eBay’s checkout feature, it is possible for you to make your eBay payments with existing funds in your PayPal account. You can also use your own credit or debit card which is linked with PayPal, for your payment.

However eBay has been working on new methods of carrying out transactions; and have come up with the use of electronic coupons that are sent out through email, for making payments. These coupons can be compared to discount coupons that can be used for your purchases.

If you receive a PayPal coupon, you can use it for paying for your transaction by entering the PayPal coupon code on the final confirmation page when buying goods. With this done, discounts are applied immediately.

  • Automatic sniping on eBay:

Though eBay sniping is against the law, many people use it to no complaints from others. Beside resorting to manual sniping, on searching for ‘eBay sniping’ you will find numerous online services that are more than ready to snipe for you for a small fee.

As they offer free trials, you have nothing to lose on trying it. If you don’t want to pay for sniping service for every eBay snipe, you could consider buying sniping software like SnipeRight or ISnipeIt.

With this software, you just have to pay once for the software and then you can use it as much and as frequently as you want.

On installing the software on your computer, you just have to inform it about the auctions that have to be sniped, and the maximum you can bid. This bid is then placed on the site by the software, during the last few seconds of bidding.

The drawback of this option is that you will have to leave the computer on most of the time so that you don’t miss some auctions.

  • Once you complete an auction and have sent the product to the buyer, it is not necessary that you end your communication at that point.

Instead, you could maintain communication with this future potential buyer by sending an email to them some time after you had sent the product to them.

End your communication with the buyer by mentioning that they could contact you with any questions in the future through eBay.

And if they do contact you make sure you give prompt answers to them. If the buyer asks for a refund, you have to be ready to give one, if the item is something that may call for a refund.

Tell the buyer to send the product back to you, and on receiving the item, send the refund to the buyer immediately. All this is quality customer service and positive feedback on eBay site for you!

  • There are numerous ways for you to ensure your clients receive excellent customer service from you while conducting transactions on eBay. The first thing you have to do is to act quickly at closing of auctions by congratulating the winner.

Though the buyer is aware of the description of the item, give them another description and give them payment options and instructions for paying for the item. Also inform them about the date the item would be shipped to them.

You could end your email with a thanks note for taking part in your auction; and perhaps inform them of other auctions you have.

On sending the item, inform the buyer of the date and time of shipping of the product, and when it is expected to reach them. Follow up by finding out if the product had reached them on time or not.
